At Makupa in Mvita Constituency, Mombasa County, he also laid the foundation stone for a modern market and an affordable housing project valued at about KSh600 million.

Ruto said the government is focused on improving electricity stability in the region to boost economic growth, noting that low voltage supply from costly thermal power has been a long-standing challenge.

He explained that the new substation will transmit power from Ethiopia and Naivasha to the Coast, supporting industrial zones such as the Dongo Kundu Special Economic Zone and creating employment opportunities for young people.

During his visit to Mariakani, the President instructed the Kenya Defence Forces to work with the Kilifi County Government to install water pipelines to improve access to clean water for residents.

He also approved a proposal to allocate 10 acres of land from the Kenya Agricultural Research Organisation for a lorry park and the construction of 1,000 affordable housing units.

The President assured Coast residents that they would not be left behind in national development plans, promising continued investment in infrastructure across the region.

He further pledged that the Mwache Dam project would be completed soon to address persistent water shortages.

On the long-standing land issue in the region, Ruto said the government is working on compensating absentee landlords using KSh5 billion, with plans to issue ownership documents to squatters occupying the land.

He added that his administration has already issued 381,000 title deeds in the region and plans to distribute an additional 200,000 within the next 90 days.

Ruto also urged residents to support the Broad-Based Government, arguing that opposition leaders lack a clear development agenda, and dismissed criticism as political rhetoric.
