The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has announced a second application period, giving Form Four leavers another chance to revise their course choices or apply afresh for placement in universities and colleges across the country.

KUCCPS has encouraged all 2025 KCSE candidates who met the minimum entry requirements for degree programmes but were either not placed or failed to secure a course to log into the system and reapply.

According to KUCCPS Chief Executive Officer Agnes Wahome, students who have already been provisionally placed have been informed through SMS and the online portal.

She urged all eligible applicants, especially those who qualified for degree programmes but have not yet secured placement, to take advantage of the reopened system to submit or update their applications.

KUCCPS reported that 212,510 candidates who attained a minimum grade of C+ and above in the 2025 KCSE exams have applied for various courses, representing 79.1 percent of the 268,714 qualified candidates.

The placement agency further noted that several highly competitive programmes, including Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Engineering, were fully subscribed during the first application phase due to high demand and limited capacity.

These programmes have therefore been temporarily removed from the current application window.

Affected students are being encouraged to explore alternative course options available in universities and colleges.

KUCCPS is also continuing with ongoing placement for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions, the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), and Kenya Utalii College.

At KMTC, available programmes include diplomas in Community Health, Mortuary Science, Health Records and Information Technology, Medical Engineering, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Physiotherapy, and Public Health, alongside several certificate courses offered on a rolling basis until capacity is reached.

However, competitive courses such as Nursing, Clinical Medicine, and Pharmacy will not be available in this cycle and are expected to reopen in the September intake.

At Kenya Utalii College, students can apply for programmes such as Diploma in Housekeeping and Laundry Management, Certificate in Front Office Operations, and Certificate in Housekeeping and Laundry Operations.

KUCCPS clarified that applications are open to KCSE candidates who sat exams between 2000 and 2025, depending on specific programme requirements.

To assist applicants, KUCCPS and KMTC have deployed career guidance officers across 23 KMTC campuses nationwide to offer support during the application process.

Additionally, KUCCPS has partnered with the Huduma Kenya Secretariat to provide application assistance at all Huduma Centres, where trained officers are available across 59 centres nationwide.

The agency has urged eligible candidates to make use of the second application window, noting that it presents an important opportunity for those who missed out in the first round to secure placements in universities, colleges, and TVET institutions.
