This comes amid rising road accidents across the country. On March 29, another deadly crash along the Nyeri–Nyahururu road claimed 15 lives after a matatu collided with a truck transporting logs.

Police said the lorry had attempted to avoid cyclists before the collision. Initially reported fatalities were 10, but the number was later revised to 15.
