William Ruto Involved in Crash, Daughter Dies

The Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) has confirmed that its Chief Executive Officer, Capt. William Ruto, was involved in a serious road accident on the evening of April 3, 2026, while travelling with his family.

In a statement released on April 4, the Authority announced that, sadly, Capt. Ruto’s daughter succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash.

“We regret to inform the public that our CEO, Capt. William K. Ruto, was involved in a tragic road accident yesterday evening while with his family. Unfortunately, his daughter did not survive,” the statement read.

KPA conveyed its deep condolences to Capt. Ruto and his family during this difficult time, describing the loss as heartbreaking.

The CEO and other family members who were involved in the accident are reported to be in stable condition and are receiving medical care under close observation.

The Authority noted that investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the accident, expressing hope for the recovery of those injured.

KPA also appealed to the public and media to respect the family’s privacy as they mourn.

Additionally, the Authority thanked Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir and Taita Taveta Governor Andrew Mwadime for their swift response and support following the incident.

KPA further appreciated its staff, partners, stakeholders, and the public for their continued support, affirming its cooperation with authorities as investigations proceed.
