Sifuna: No Threat Will Silence Me

Sifuna emphasized that he, alongside like-minded leaders, will continue exposing alleged injustices.

Addressing congregants during a church service in Kitengela, Sifuna—who had previously been removed as ODM Secretary General before a court suspended the decision—reaffirmed his commitment to defending Kenyans.

“Even if they try to hunt us down or scheme against us, we will not stop speaking the truth to protect Kenyans from government injustices, corruption, abductions, and extrajudicial killings,” he declared.

Vihiga Senator Godffrey Osotsi, Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka, and Siaya Governor James Orengo attended the service alongside Sifuna. Several MPs were also present, including Embakasi East’s Babu Owino, Suba South’s Caroli Omondi, Kitutu Chache South’s Anthony Kibagendi, Kaiti’s Joshua Kimilu, Funyula’s Oundo Ojiambo, and Saboti’s Caleb Amisi.

Recalling guidance from the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, Sifuna stressed that leadership requires constant accountability.

“Raila Odinga used to remind us that if you are a leader, there must be people you are leading. Every step you take, you must check that the people are still with you—and that is exactly what we will continue doing,” he said.

Sifuna expressed gratitude to Kenyans for their support during the ongoing political turbulence.

“I thank Kenyans for stepping in and taking up my role; your support reassures me that even if they try to eliminate me, there will be millions who will continue the fight for the people,” he added.

The senator painted a bleak picture of the country’s socio-economic challenges.

“The economy is struggling, children are out of school, the health sector is in disarray, yet we are told to stay silent or risk being removed from our positions. I assure Kenyans, we will continue standing with the people. I protect them today, and they will protect me tomorrow,” Sifuna said.

Osotsi added that he had refused to join the government to remain aligned with citizens.

“The people here represent the true ODM. The other faction has been co-opted by the government,” he said, insisting that Sifuna’s removal would fail. “Even Mama Ida has confirmed that Sifuna is not going anywhere,” Osotsi added, questioning why the ODM National Executive Council had not addressed his position as Deputy Party Leader.

“We are here to stay in ODM; it is they who will leave,” he said, alleging plans to disrupt their rallies. “Next weekend, we will hold the mother of all rallies in Kakamega town,” he announced.

Governor Orengo echoed the message, saying, “This journey must succeed. We must save our country. If we stand for the truth, change is possible.”

He warned that no matter the risks, including arrests or threats to life, their mission to liberate the country will continue.

“After Kakamega, we will take our message to other parts of the nation. We have instilled fear in the dictatorship,” Orengo said.
