President Ruto Announces New State Appointments

President William Ruto has announced new State appointments aimed at enhancing service delivery within his administration.

In a gazette notice published on Friday, October 4, the President appointed seven individuals to form a Selection Panel responsible for recruiting the Vice-Chairperson and members of the Public Service Commission (PSC).

This action aligns with legal requirements stipulating that the PSC must include a Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, and members appointed by the President, subject to National Assembly approval.

The appointed members are Arthur Osiya, Oscar Eredi, Prof. Nura Mohammed, Grace Wairimu Kamau, Ruth Wambeti Ruraa, Nancy M. Butama, and Elizabeth Chesang.

Additionally, former Machakos Town MP Victor Munyaka has been appointed as Chairperson of the Kenya Animal Genetic Resource Centre for a three-year term. Munyaka was previously nominated for Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) at the Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing & Urban Development, but that nomination was ruled unconstitutional by the court.

James Ndung’u Mureu has been appointed Chairperson of the Micro and Small Enterprises Authority for three years.

The term of Donald Murgor as Chairperson of the Water Resources Authority Board has been extended to 2027; he was initially appointed in September of the previous year to succeed Isaac Kuntai Kool.

Other appointments include Silas Otieno as Chair of the Council of the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication for three years and Joseph Kipchumba leading the National Mining Corporation until 2027.

Bishop Joseph Kagunda has been appointed Chair of the Board of the Anti-Doping Agency for three years, having previously served as the leader of the ACK Mt. Kenya West diocese for two decades before his retirement.

President Ruto is facing increased public scrutiny, with many Kenyans urging his administration to fulfill the promises outlined in its manifesto.
