Kenya Power has notified customers of a scheduled electricity interruption set to affect parts of 12 counties on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. The blackout is part of routine network maintenance and system upgrade works.
In a notice released on Monday, January 26, 2026, the utility company stated that the power interruptions will take place at varying times depending on the affected area.

“Good evening. The listed areas will be affected by planned power maintenance tomorrow, January 27, 2026,” the notice read in part.
Nairobi Region
Several parts of Nairobi County will be without electricity from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Affected areas include Ngong, Kawangware and Kibera, covering Riara Road, Bamboo Lane, Wanyee Road, Nyakinywa Road and Talanta Stadium.
Other areas to be affected include War Memorial Cemetery, Githembe, the Meteorological Department, Midhill Hospital, Junction Mall, Ngando, Dagoretti Corner, Gitanga Road, Rusinga School, Braeburn School, Tea Board of Kenya, Miotoni Road, Lenana School, Race Course, Jockey Club, Jamuhuri Park, Rowland Camp, Ayany, Showground, National Beekeeping Centre, Santack Estate, Gikuyu Close and surrounding neighborhoods.
North Rift Region
In Uasin Gishu County, areas including Kapkatembu and Ngenyileel will experience an outage from 9.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. These include Kapkenyeloi, Kapchesukunwo, Soin Primary School and nearby customers.
Meanwhile, areas around Railway Hotel, Premium Hotel and Maili Nne will be without power from 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m., affecting Baharini, Premium Hotel Maili Nne, Railways Hotel–Kamagut and adjacent areas.

Kisumu County
Parts of the Farm Machineries area will experience a blackout between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m. Affected locations include Farm Machineries, Grand Royal Swiss Hotel, Bukna, Bance Park, Kapko, Kiboswa, Safaricom Booster and nearby customers.
Kakamega County
In Kakamega County, the Malava area will experience a power interruption from 9.00 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. Areas affected include Samisi, Malanga, Malava Market, Malava Hospital, Malichi, Kimangeti Tumbbeni, Kakoyi, Kambi Kwanza, Shamberere, West Kenya Sugar, Mahira, KWS, Kambiri and surrounding areas.
Migori County
Ranen and Dede areas will be affected between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m. This includes Ranen, Kokuro, Dede, Nyakuru, Kanyimach, Maroo, Omware and nearby customers.
Homa Bay County
The Pala area—including Pala, Nyakongo, Pala Prison, Ngeta, Oyuma, Ongalo, Osika, Kanyakutu, Sombro, Aros, Nyangwete, Jonyo, Chula and Sanda—will experience an outage from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
Additionally, Nyatoto and surrounding areas, including Ongayo, Nyabera and Kona Koito, will also be without power during the same period.
Murang’a County
Parts of the Tana Feeder–Ndithini Mission Spur will experience a blackout from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Affected areas include Busiani Primary, Kiatineni Market and Primary School, Ndovuini Primary, Tana Ranch Market and Primary School, as well as nearby areas.
Meru County
Power outages are expected from 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. in Gakoromone, Giaki and Kwa Ng’ombe areas. Affected locations include Gakoromone, Shauri Yako, Marvis Petroleum, Againe, Kiambogo Coffee Factory, Imenti North Muslim Girls School, Mulanthakari Market and schools, Thuura Coffee Factory, Kauthene Market, Giaki Market, Kathirune Market, Ciothirai Police Station and surrounding villages.
Embu County
Masinga, Kaewa, Kitangani and Mutwamwaki areas will experience a power interruption from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. This will affect Masinga Kengen Camps, Sogea, Kamukunji, Mukusu, Makutano Andei, Masinga Market and nearby areas.
Kirinyaga County
Electricity supply will be interrupted between 9.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. in areas including Gathigiriri Prison, NIB and Mwariko. Other affected locations include Lainisha, Sacco, KPLC offices, Kiriwasco, MRM, Kingati, Mikimaini Borehole and surrounding residents.

Laikipia County
Kathi and Kangaita areas will experience a blackout from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., affecting Katheri Market, Ontulili, Kwa Marete, Kangaita and nearby customers.
Kiambu County
Gikambura and Lusigetti areas will be without power from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Affected locations include Kiriti, Gikambura Shopping Centre, Lusigetti Shopping Centre, Nachu, Mawathaine, Fourways Estate, Kigwa Farm, Thindigua PCEA, Kwa Masai, Ankiah Apartments and surrounding areas.
Other affected areas include Kiangombe, Athena, Oasis, Kona 1, 2 and 3, Kimuchu Primary and Secondary Schools, Superfine Africa Nuts, Leerand School and adjacent areas.
