A 13-year-old boy drowned while swimming in a dam in Kathonzweni, Makueni County, authorities and family members have confirmed.

Police reported that the incident occurred on December 27, 2025, in the Kitise area. The boy had been swimming with other children when he tragically drowned.
His body was recovered and taken to a mortuary pending an autopsy and further procedures.

In a separate incident in Nessut, Njoro, Nakuru County, a 30-year-old man, identified as Francis Mugo, died following an attack on the morning of December 27.
Police said Mugo and a woman were walking home after spending time out when a group attempted to rob them.
Mugo suffered severe injuries and later died while receiving treatment in hospital. The woman sustained head injuries and remains hospitalized in stable condition.
Mugo’s body was transferred to a mortuary pending an autopsy, while police continue to investigate the incident and work to trace those involved.
