The Mpesa mobile phone-based money transfer service is currently experiencing an outage, affecting millions of its users across the country.
On January 9, 2024, numerous Kenyans took to social media to report the unavailability of Mpesa services. Many users attempting transactions received apology messages from Mpesa, with one message stating, “The parameters of data sources are null null.”
The same error was encountered when trying to make transactions through the Mpesa app. A pop-up notification on the app mentioned that “M-PESA is undergoing scheduled maintenance.”
As of now, Safaricom has not issued a statement acknowledging the downtime. Further updates on the situation are expected.
