Dozens of people have reportedly died in a fuel tanker explosion in central Niger state in Nigeria after the vehicle skidded off the road and fell, spilling fuel.
Villagers rushed to the scene of the accident to retrieve fuel from the overturned truck, but it suddenly exploded and ignited a huge fire that consumed them.
About 30 people were reported dead, while at least 40 others suffered burns of varying degrees.
The intense fire charred many of the victims beyond recognition, and the injured were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Accidents involving fuel trucks are common in Nigeria, despite warnings issued about the dangers of cleaning up spilled fuel.
