According to police, the estate caretaker, Peter Oduor, raised the alarm before emergency teams from Machakos and Nairobi counties, together with police and community policing members, responded to contain the flames.
Investigations show the fire began at House A10 before spreading to six adjacent homes. Authorities said the cause of the blaze has yet to be established, noting that a girl who was inside the first house could not be traced.
Detectives from the DCI in Mlolongo have taken up the matter, which remains under investigation.
