The deceased bride-to-be, 42-year-old Jackline Kasau, a teacher at St. Mary’s Kinyambu Girls’ Secondary School, was travelling with her 10-year-old daughter, her mother-in-law from Kibwezi, and a neighbour when the crash occurred late Saturday night along the Kibwezi–Kitui road.
Police said the group was headed back to Kibwezi from Kitui when their vehicle lost control and rolled, reportedly due to speeding. Three people died on the spot, while two others were rushed to Kibwezi AMREF Hospital.
One of them, Kasau, later died from her injuries, leaving her fiancé as the only survivor. He was treated and discharged.
