Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka on Thursday convened a private meeting with key opposition figures at his rural home in Tseikuru, Kitui County, in what insiders described as a crucial planning session ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The strategic talks come barely a month after former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua welcomed senior opposition politicians to his Wamunyoro home in Nyeri, signaling growing political maneuvering ahead of the next presidential race.
Gachagua, accompanied by his wife Dorcas and a team from the Mt Kenya region, landed at Kalonzo’s compound around 11 a.m. by helicopter. His presence was seen as a broader effort to foster cross-regional alliances beyond his central Kenya base.
Other prominent leaders at the meeting included PLP head Martha Karua, DAP-K leader Eugene Wamalwa, Democratic Party boss Justin Muturi, and former Cabinet Minister Mukhisa Kituyi. Senator Richard Onyonka represented former Interior CS Fred Matiang’i, who was out of the country.
Sources familiar with the discussions revealed that the leaders are aiming to solidify opposition unity and craft a shared strategy—potentially rallying behind a single presidential contender to take on President William Ruto in 2027.
Kalonzo had also mobilized a large number of supporters in anticipation of the high-profile gathering.
