Morara Fires Back at “Political Project” Claims, Demands Proof from Critics

Inclusive National Justice, Economic & Civic Transformation (INJECT) party leader David Morara Kebaso has lashed out at critics who label him a “political project,” insisting such accusations are baseless and need to be backed by evidence.

In a video posted on his official X account on the night of Saturday, May 24, 2025, Morara urged Kenyans to demand proof from anyone claiming he is being used by powerful figures ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He expressed frustration at being falsely branded and took a hard stance, saying those who spread such claims without evidence “deserve a proper slap.”

Morara also slammed Kenyans for falling for misinformation circulating online, saying it was frustrating to see people believe lies without questioning their sources.

“From today, if someone tells you Morara is a political project, ask for evidence. If they can’t provide any, do me a favour — slap that fool and take a picture. This nonsense has gone too far. You can’t keep believing everything online like a fool — don’t you have a mind of your own?” he said, speaking partly in Swahili.

Addressing Allegations of Fraud

Morara also criticized those calling him a “conman” on social media, accusing them of never having supported his work or contributed anything to his civic initiatives.

He claimed many Kenyans dismiss his efforts in civic education, only to repeat poor voting choices. He warned that unless voters become more critical and informed, they risk replacing one corrupt leader with another.

“People say ‘Morara is a thief, Morara is a conman’ — how exactly did I con you? Most of these loud voices have never donated a shilling or supported anything we do. We’re out here freezing, touring the country, showing people real projects, trying to teach them that there’s no real difference between this corrupt government and the corrupt opposition. Yet people don’t get it. You’ve already made up your mind to vote for another corrupt leader just to get rid of Ruto — who you say is corrupt. So you’re swapping one thief for another, and in a few months you’ll be complaining again about roads, hospitals, and unemployment,” he ranted.

Accusations of Being an Opposition Project

Rumors of Morara being a “project” began after he was seen meeting with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and members of the Kalonzo Musyoka-led opposition. The meeting triggered speculation about his political loyalties and independence.

After days of online criticism, Morara distanced himself from the opposition bloc. He cited the dominance of tribal politics and the presence of leaders with questionable records on corruption as reasons for breaking ties.

“I left because I disagreed with their tribal-based political strategies. Secondly, many of the top figures in the opposition, including those working with Rigathi Gachagua, are just as corrupt as William Ruto. Corruption is the main reason government fails — and the opposition leaders are no different,” he told a local TV station in an interview on Thursday, May 15, 2025.
