Migori: Man Dies in Violent Clash Over Married Woman

A 37-year-old man has died following a violent confrontation stemming from a suspected love triangle in North East Kadem, Nyatike Sub County, Migori County.

Local authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, which occurred on the night of March 31, 2025.

Kevin Ouma lost his life after an altercation with Johnson Ochieng, who is currently hospitalized with serious injuries.

According to Area Chief Voshastar Akal, the dispute arose when both men arrived at the home of a married woman with whom they were allegedly having clandestine affairs.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that Mr. Ouma had arranged to meet the woman at her residence,” Chief Akal stated. “Shortly after his arrival, Mr. Ochieng also appeared, leading to a heated and violent exchange.”

The two men, armed with crude weapons, engaged in a physical fight. Ouma sustained fatal stab wounds to the chest and died at the scene. Ochieng suffered severe panga wounds and was transported to Migori Level Four Hospital for treatment.

The woman involved in the dispute is reportedly married, with her husband working outside Migori County. Following the incident, members of Ouma’s family reportedly retaliated by setting the woman’s house on fire.

Police, in collaboration with the provincial administration, are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the death. They are working to gather further evidence and determine the precise sequence of events.
