Marvel Star Jonathan Majors Convicted of Assault and Harassment in Domestic Dispute Trial

Actor Jonathan Majors has been found guilty by a New York jury of assault and harassment against his former girlfriend in the context of a domestic dispute. The rising star, known for his roles in Disney’s Marvel franchise and “Creed III,” was convicted on one count of third-degree reckless assault and a non-criminal charge of harassment.

However, he was acquitted on another assault charge and aggravated harassment. Majors, who maintained a serious expression during the verdict reading, left the courthouse without providing comments to the media. His attorney expressed his faith in the legal process and his anticipation of clearing his name.

Following the verdict, it was disclosed that Marvel Studios would not proceed with any future projects involving Majors, who was cast as the antagonist Kang in “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.” The jury deliberated for approximately four and a half hours before reaching a verdict. The trial, originating from a March domestic dispute with his former girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, began on December 4.

Majors had pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor charges of assault and aggravated harassment. Prosecutors claimed Majors used physical violence against Jabbari, while his attorney insisted on his innocence, labeling the accusations as false and asserting that Jabbari was the aggressor. Majors, although not testifying, was present throughout the trial. Jabbari testified that Majors assaulted her during the March dispute, allegedly triggered by a romantic text message on his phone from someone else.

In response to the guilty verdict, Jabbari’s attorneys expressed satisfaction, commending her truthful testimony and thanking the jurors, judge, and the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office. Majors, known for prominent film roles, including “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” and the Disney+ series “Loki,” had his career trajectory interrupted by the legal proceedings.

His sentencing, scheduled for February 6, could result in up to a year in prison for the assault conviction, along with a maximum of 15 days in jail and a $250 fine for the harassment violation.
