A Juja Family in Kiambu County is Thrilled After 14-Year-Old Daughter Returns Home After Four Months
A family in Juja, Kiambu County, is celebrating after their 14-year-old daughter, Daisy Wanjiku, a Form One student, returned home four months after she went missing.
Daisy, who attends Kahuhia Girls High School in Murang’a County, disappeared from their Mugutha Estate home on May 13, just a day before the start of the second school term.
However, on Monday, Daisy called her mother to share the joyful news that she was on her way back home.
“I was overwhelmed with joy and grateful to God that Daisy returned home safe and healthy,” Daisy’s mother, who has four children, told reporters upon her daughter’s return, accompanied by other family members.
While Daisy chose not to discuss the details of her disappearance, she apologized to her parents for the distress they endured and expressed her readiness to return to school.
Her father, Charles Githaiga, a pastor and farmer, compared Daisy’s return to the biblical story of the Prodigal Son, who was warmly welcomed back by his father after squandering his inheritance. He expressed his commitment to supporting Daisy in her education and her goal of becoming a doctor.
Githaiga advised other parents to approach situations like Daisy’s with compassion and understanding rather than hostility.
Winnie Mwaura, Daisy’s aunt, noted that the family endured significant suffering and faced accusations of being responsible for her disappearance, but they are now relieved and grateful for her safe return.
Daisy’s uncle, Bishop Martin Kariuki, shared that the family had been holding prayer sessions and fasting, and he was overjoyed to see Daisy back home.
