She recalled that on the morning of his death, which was a public holiday, he woke up early while she was still asleep. When she noticed he was preparing to leave, she questioned why he was going out despite it being a holiday.
According to her, the doctor insisted they share breakfast together before he left. The couple reportedly spent several hours together that morning before he handed her Sh10,000 and encouraged her to go have her hair done.
Everose said she initially thought it was a normal gesture, but later began to feel that he may have been unknowingly preparing his family for his departure.

She also remembered how, two days earlier, he had fueled her car and instructed her to take their grandson to school. However, on the day he died, he unexpectedly changed his plans and decided to accompany the child himself.

The widow said the doctor even postponed appointments at his clinic so he could spend more time with the boy, whom she described as their only grandson currently in school.
She further disclosed that the late medic had at times expressed concern about his safety, occasionally asking her to check on him if she failed to hear from him for several hours.
Friends, relatives, and colleagues who attended the memorial praised Dr Obwaka as a compassionate doctor, devoted family man, and mentor whose kindness and medical service impacted many lives.
