According to the statement delivered by Communication Secretary Kanze Dena, Uhuru holds great respect for the passion, creativity and patriotism of the country’s young people.
While acknowledging the eagerness of the youth to engage with him, Kanze emphasized that proper channels must be followed to ensure any meeting is well organised and meaningful.
She noted that Uhuru strongly supports intergenerational dialogue as key to shaping Kenya’s future and remains open to constructive conversations.
The statement encouraged organisers of such initiatives to formally reach out to his office in advance to allow for structured, peaceful and productive engagement.
Kanze added that the retired President is willing to meet and exchange views in a respectful setting that promotes unity and mutual understanding, urging Kenyans to prioritise dialogue over confrontation.
The response follows a letter dated February 16, 2026, from a group of young Kenyans notifying him of their intention to visit his Ichaweri home on Monday, February 23, 2026.

In their letter, the group described the planned trip as a courtesy call aimed at appreciating Uhuru for what they termed as his role in opening up space and support for youth participation in national leadership.

They also portrayed the visit as symbolic of a wider political awakening among young leaders ahead of the 2027 General Election, saying it marked the beginning of a generational shift as youth prepare to seek leadership positions and influence policy direction.
The clarification from Uhuru’s office came shortly after the Jubilee Party dismissed social media claims that it had organised the so-called Gen-Z gathering at the former President’s residence.
The party termed the reports misleading and stated they did not reflect the position of either the former President or the party leadership.
It urged the public to rely on its verified communication channels for accurate information and reaffirmed its commitment to engaging young people through proper and structured platforms.
