Waititu emphasized his alignment with the “Kenyans movement,” stating, “I’m with Kenyans, the Kenyans movement. We are in the streets.” Despite disassociating himself from UDA and refraining from joining Azimio, Waititu asserted his alignment with the sentiments of the people of Mount Kenya.

Addressing the Mount Kenya populace, Waititu urged for unity and advocated for supporting a candidate from the region in the upcoming elections. He stressed the necessity of restoring respect and ensuring the representation of Mount Kenya’s interests by one of its own, rather than an outsider.

Waititu called for solidarity among Mount Kenya leaders in advocating for equitable resource allocation, advocating for the principle of “one man, one vote, one shilling.”

Reflecting on past missed opportunities, particularly regarding the failed implementation of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) proposed by President Uhuru Kenyatta, Waititu emphasized the importance of supporting a candidate from Mount Kenya in the forthcoming elections, regardless of gender.

In conclusion, Waititu asserted the Mount Kenya region’s intention to field its own presidential candidate and urged fellow leaders to prioritize the interests of the region moving forward.
