Ukrainian Drone Strike hits Key Russian oil Refinery

By: BBC

A Ukrainian drone attack has hit Russia’s second oil refinery in a week.

Social media users posted images of flames rising into the sky near the Lukoil company’s depot in Kstovo.

Ukraine says its forces successfully hit an oil refinery in the Russian town of Kstovo, about 800 kilometers (500 miles) from the front line in eastern Ukraine.

Four drones hit a Lukoil company depot, Ukrainian media said, adding that the facility suffered extensive damage.

Videos posted on social media showed huge flames rising above the industrial facility.

Regional governor Gleb Nikitin said that the remains of the drone had fallen on an industrial area, and that no injuries were reported at the scene.

Separately, the governor of the Smolensk region, Vasily Anokhin, said on the Telegram that a “major” drone attack on “civilian infrastructure” had occurred in his region, although no casualties were immediately reported.

Anokhin said one of the drones was shot down while trying to hit a nuclear power plant.

The BBC has not been able to independently verify this information.
