Top Opposition Leaders Attend Kalonzo’s Wiper NDC

Several leading opposition figures convened at Uhuru Park in Nairobi on Friday to attend the Wiper Party’s National Executive Council (NEC) and National Delegates Congress (NDC) — a key event marking a turning point for the party and its leader, Kalonzo Musyoka.

The high-level gathering comes as Wiper prepares to rebrand as the Wiper Patriotic Front, signalling a new political direction ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Among the notable attendees were DCP leader Rigathi Gachagua, DAP–K leader Eugene Wamalwa, NARC–Kenya leader Martha Karua, former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, and former National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi.

Their attendance highlighted Kalonzo’s growing influence within the opposition and his emergence as a key figure in the country’s political realignment.

During the session, Wiper’s NEC formally endorsed Kalonzo Musyoka as the party’s presidential candidate for 2027, a move expected to cement his position as a leading contender within the opposition coalition.

Kalonzo’s highly anticipated address is expected to outline his political roadmap and define the party’s strategic direction as it gears up for the next polls.

The NDC agenda includes reviewing and amending the party’s constitution, debating the proposed name change, and discussing grassroots mobilisation plans to strengthen Wiper’s presence nationwide.

Delegates will also deliberate on the adoption of the Wiper Patriotic Front Constitution, approve NEC reports, and consider any additional matters presented before the congress.
