Authorities in Likuyani constituency, Kakamega county, are probing the death of a teacher reportedly associated with Matunda Primary School in the region. Mr. Mugera Lugado’s body was reportedly discovered on Monday at a quarry in Lupele village, Soy area.
Residents who arrived at the scene recounted seeing a motorbike, believed to belong to the deceased, partially covering his body.
Sub-chief Oliver Lukuyani confirmed the incident, stating that a local resident passing by discovered the body.
The local administrator mentioned receiving a phone call around 7 a.m., informing him of the discovery of a man’s body in the quarry.
A cigarette was allegedly found in one of the socks worn by the deceased, prompting questions as the deceased was not known to smoke or consume alcohol.
“The deceased had no known history of smoking cigarettes or consuming alcohol,” Chief Lukuyani remarked.
The body was transported to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret pending a postmortem examination.
Police are conducting an investigation into the incident to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the teacher’s death.
