Kenyan Officer Killed in Haiti Road Crash Identified

The Multinational Security Support Mission in Haiti (MSS-Haiti) has confirmed the identity of the Kenyan police officer who lost his life in a road accident on Sunday, August 31, 2025, while on peacekeeping duty.

The officer was identified as Corporal Kennedy Mutuku Nzuve, 41, from the National Police Service’s Rapid Deployment Unit (RDU). He died following a crash along the Kenscoff–Pétion-Ville road at Perlerin 9 and was pronounced dead at Lambert Santé Hospital in Pétion-Ville.

Born on March 8, 1984, in Machakos County, Corporal Nzuve joined the police service in 2005. He served in several regions, including Narok and Baringo, before being deployed to Haiti with Kenya’s third contingent to the mission.

On September 1, personnel from Kenya, the Bahamas, Jamaica, El Salvador, Guatemala, and partner organizations such as DMG, Amentum, Aspen, and GardaWorld held a memorial service for him at LSA1 in Pétion-Ville. His remains were later transferred to the Dominican Republic for preservation before repatriation to Kenya.

MSS-Haiti reported that several other peacekeepers were injured in the crash but are now stable. The mission expressed gratitude to the Haitian military, police, local residents, and fellow officers who assisted during the emergency response.

“Our deepest condolences go to Corporal Nzuve’s family, colleagues, and friends. His commitment and service will always be remembered,” MSS-Haiti said in a statement on Tuesday.
