A 27-year-old man was arrested on Friday in connection with the deadly shooting of 25-year-old Abdirahim Abdullahi Ibrahim in Nairobi’s Eastleigh area on November 9, 2024. The arrest followed an intelligence-led operation in the Kiambiu slums.
Police say the suspect is also linked to the killing of Police Constable David Mayaka, who was shot dead in Kayole on August 23, 2023, by three men on a motorcycle.
CCTV footage from the Eastleigh shooting shows the assailant firing at close range, killing Abdirahim, and then fleeing with his mobile phone.
Abdirahim had been meeting a woman, a local waitress, at the time of the attack. She was later arrested as part of the investigation.
A postmortem revealed that Abdirahim died from blood loss after a gunshot wound to the neck.
The arrest comes just days after another suspect, Hashim Dagane Muhumed, was detained in connection with the murders of a mother, daughter, and niece, as well as the killing of a woman in Lavington. Police are also looking into possible links to terrorism recruitment.
