In a surprising turn of events, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) in Makueni has decided not to proceed with the case against the Speaker of the County Assembly, Mr. Mbilu.
Following a review of the investigation file concerning the Speaker, the DPP’s office has opted to withdraw the charges brought against him. The case, which was filed in the Makindu Law Courts and accused the Speaker of participating in demonstrations, has been officially withdrawn.
This morning, during proceedings at the Makindu Law Courts, the Senior Resident Magistrate, Hon. Kibe, granted the DPP’s request and discharged the accused, Mr. Mbilu.
The decision to withdraw the case comes after legal experts, led by Lawyers Dennis Mung’ata and Judah Kioko, expressed strong doubts about the validity of the charges. They maintained that the case lacked substance, describing it metaphorically as having “no legs, no head, and no hands.”

The sudden withdrawal of charges against Speaker Mbilu has left many puzzled and sparked discussions within the county. Some have hailed it as a victory for justice, while others question the motives behind the initial filing of charges.
As the dust settles on this legal saga, residents await further clarification from the DPP’s office regarding their decision and the future implications for Speaker Mbilu.
