In a statement issued Friday, SHA CEO Mercy Mwangangi said the hospital’s claims were genuine, duly processed, and verified.

“The disbursement of Sh19,998,720 reflects legitimate and accumulated claims that underwent SHA’s strict verification and payment procedures,” she explained.

She noted that since October 2024, the facility has received Sh751,504 under the Primary Health Care (PHC) program and Sh82,080,706 through the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF), all of which have been acknowledged by the hospital.

Mwangangi clarified that Nyandhiwa Level 4 Hospital has been operational since the 1970s, having evolved from Nyandhiwa Dispensary into its current status. She added that many upgraded health facilities across the country still use their original bank account names, which may cause confusion.

She also dismissed media reports linking SHA to a dilapidated structure, saying it was an incomplete project by a past county government and has never been contracted or recognized by the authority.

“The public can view all payments made to facilities on the SHA website, which are published after every disbursement,” she said, stressing that payouts represent multiple benefit packages including outpatient, inpatient, surgical, maternity, dialysis, imaging, and mental health services, among others.
