A fire incident occurred in Kariobangi, Nairobi, resulting in seven individuals sustaining injuries.
The fire originated from a fuel station and extended to nearby structures, causing damage to property of undetermined value before being brought under control. Fire extinguishers on a fuel lorry at the newly opened station were used to swiftly extinguish the flames.
The injured were promptly taken to Margaret Uhuru Kenyatta Hospital, where they received treatment for minor burns and were subsequently discharged. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire.
Additionally, another fire erupted in an area close to the recent Embakasi gas plant explosion, causing alarm. However, Nairobi police chief Adamson Bungei confirmed that no injuries were reported in this incident, which involved a fire in a blanket store.
Firefighters successfully contained the blaze before it could spread further, although significant losses were incurred.
The earlier gas refilling station explosion on February 1 resulted in a substantial fire, claiming six lives and injuring over 300 people. Investigations into this incident are ongoing, with four individuals, including the yard owner, having been arrested thus far.
