Ruto Says 2026 Will Mark a Turning Point in Kenya’s National Journey

President William Ruto has said 2026 will be a pivotal year in Kenya’s history, marking a decisive shift toward long-term growth and national transformation. He stated that the country has moved past uncertainty and is now firmly set on a clear and deliberate path to prosperity.

Speaking during his New Year address to the nation, the President said the government has established clear goals and a structured roadmap to guide Kenya through a critical phase of reform and development.

He dismissed claims that the country’s economic and political direction is unclear, insisting the current course is the result of careful planning rather than chance.

“We are not drifting or taking risks blindly. We have set our goals, begun the journey, and mapped out a clear path that will make 2026 a defining year in our history,” Ruto said.

He noted that the address went beyond a traditional end-of-year message, describing it as a call for unity, shared responsibility, and collective action. According to the President, the period ahead requires national cooperation to complete long-delayed reforms and development initiatives.

“This is more than a routine New Year message. It is a call for all Kenyans to seize the moment, walk together as one people, and complete a journey that has been postponed for too long,” he said.

Ruto said 2026 would be remembered as the year Kenya transitioned from unrealised potential to tangible progress, becoming a historical milestone for future generations.

“2026 will be remembered as a turning point—when Kenya moved from promise to prosperity and changed its course toward sustainable growth,” he said.

He added that the government’s optimism is grounded in the foundations already laid, noting that the administration has faced challenges, made tough decisions, and turned obstacles into opportunities.

“We are confident because we are not starting from scratch. We confronted challenges, created opportunities, and built a strong foundation for the future,” Ruto said.

Looking ahead, the President said the focus will be on consolidating gains, sustaining momentum, and ensuring progress benefits all Kenyans. He emphasized that unity, discipline, and a shared sense of purpose will be vital as the country enters what he described as a defining chapter in its national story.
