A suspected thief was lynched in Migori after fatally stabbing a man during a failed robbery attempt.
Police reported that the suspect, together with an accomplice, had tried to snatch a motorcycle from a rider. The rider raised an alarm, drawing the attention of members of the public who quickly descended on the suspect. His accomplice managed to flee.

As the mob attacked him with stones, kicks, and sticks, the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed 43-year-old George Ouma on the head and arm. Ouma collapsed and was rushed to Migori County Referral Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
The enraged mob then stoned the suspect to death. Both bodies were later taken to the mortuary for postmortem examinations. Police recovered the knife at the scene and have cautioned against mob justice, urging residents to hand over suspects to the authorities.

In a separate incident in Kabachi, Mutuati, Meru County, a 65-year-old woman was found murdered and her body dumped in a thicket. The victim, identified as Jerusha Syomithea, had gone to her farm on August 25 but never returned home.
Her body was discovered two days later with injuries on her legs. Police suspect she was killed elsewhere before being dumped at the scene. Investigations into the motive of the murder are ongoing, but no arrests have been made so far.
Authorities say murder cases in the area are on the rise, many of them linked to land disputes.
