Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is attending the 20th Graduation Ceremony at Kabarak University.
Kabarak University, a private higher education institution, was founded in 2002 by the late President Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi. Located in Nakuru County, it is about 20 km from Nakuru town and 12 km from the Nakuru-Eldama Ravine road.
Raila joined former Rongai MP Raymond Moi and Kanu Chairman Gideon Moi, who serves as the Chancellor, at the Graduation Square to celebrate the 2,541 graduates—the largest cohort in the university’s history.
Raila had just returned to Kenya after wrapping up his recent campaign leg for the African Union Commission Chairperson role. This week, he visited the Central African Republic, where he met with President Faustin-Archange Touadera. On his X account, Raila expressed gratitude to the president for hosting him in Bangui and sharing his vision for Africa as he continued his campaign for the AUC leadership.

Raila also traveled to Djibouti, the home country of his main rival, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, for discussions with President Ismail Guelleh. Youssouf is considered Raila’s primary challenger for the position.
Kenya is focused on securing enough support for Raila’s candidacy, despite strong opposition from Youssouf ahead of the upcoming elections.
Raila, who has a packed campaign schedule, has not taken a break for Christmas. In December, he has visited Eritrea, Chad, and the Central African Republic. Last month, he focused on West Africa, meeting with several French-speaking nations to present his case.
Next, Raila will travel to the Maghreb region in the western part of the Arab World, which includes Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, and Mauritania.
On December 13, Raila participated in the Mjadala in Ethiopia—a live, televised debate for all AUC chairperson candidates broadcast across Africa.
