Previous presidents have typically responded to crises by restructuring their governments, often through mass dismissals of Cabinet members.
One notable example occurred in November 2005 when President Mwai Kibaki of Kenya, facing opposition to a constitution he supported, disbanded his entire Cabinet.
This move was prompted by a referendum in which a majority of Kenyan voters rejected the proposed constitution, leading Kibaki to reorganize his administration for greater unity and effectiveness in serving the people.
Key figures who had opposed the constitution were notably excluded from the revamped Cabinet. Similarly, in 2002, President Daniel arap Moi dismissed several ministers, including his deputy, amidst internal party disputes over presidential succession.
More recently, in January 2018, President Uhuru Kenyatta also undertook a significant Cabinet reshuffle, removing over half of his ministers as part of a broader effort to combat corruption.
