The estate, consisting of 220 housing units across nine G+4 blocks, will house about 1,500 residents. It was developed to provide affordable, quality homes while creating jobs and supporting local industries.
During the handover, beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the project. James Munga, a new two-bedroom homeowner, commended the government’s efforts, saying he initially doubted the initiative but is now proud to own a home through Boma Yangu.
He urged leaders to support such development projects instead of politicizing them.
Another beneficiary, Martha Maina, who secured a studio unit, praised the “rent-to-own” model, noting that it enables young professionals to own homes early in their careers.

The estate features modern amenities, including parking, garbage collection points, a boundary wall, green spaces, well-lit streets, walkways, and a borehole for steady water supply—reflecting the government’s goal of building sustainable and inclusive urban communities.

Constructed by Top Choice Surveillance Limited, the project began in September 2023 and was completed within two years. It employed about 1,000 locals and involved jua kali artisans in fabricating doors, windows, and rails—strengthening links between the housing and MSME sectors.

According to Housing PS Charles Hinga, the development comprises 60 studio units, 20 one-bedroom, 120 two-bedroom, and 20 three-bedroom apartments, designed to foster a self-sufficient community where residents can “live, work, and play.”

The Elburgon project forms part of President Ruto’s broader vision to boost homeownership among low- and middle-income Kenyans, bridge the housing deficit, and drive economic growth through affordable housing — offering thousands of families a fresh start.
