Dressed in black, mourners were visibly overcome with emotion as clergy welcomed and prayed with the bereaved families.

The requiem, organised by Parliament in partnership with the families, attracted senior leaders including Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, Senate Speaker Amason Kingi, Members of Parliament, government officials, and members of the clergy.

Speakers offered prayers and messages of comfort, paying tribute to the lives and service of the deceased.

On Thursday, Ng’eno’s body will be transported to Emurua Dikirr Primary School for a church service and overnight vigil to allow residents to honour him. His burial is set for Friday, March 6, 2026, at the same venue, with President William Ruto expected to attend. The burial ceremonies for the other victims will follow thereafter.
