Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was present at a service held to honor the victims of the Mai Mahiu floods.
The ceremony took place at Mor Gas Grounds in Mai Mahiu, Nakuru.

Accompanying Gachagua at the memorial service was Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika.
The tragic incident in Mai Mahiu claimed the lives of 60 people, with 51 individuals still missing and 52 others injured during the events of last week.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki officially declared Friday, May 10, as a public holiday for nationwide tree planting initiatives. He emphasized that the day would also serve as a symbol of solidarity with all those affected by the recurring floods and subsequent droughts in recent times.
