DCI interrogated MPs Alice Ng’ang’a and Elijah Njoroge Kururia regarding the violent clash in Thika’s Kiganjo village, resulting in one fatality and multiple injuries.
The investigation, underway since last week, aims to uncover the events of that day in Kiambu County. All individuals with firearms during the altercation were instructed to surrender their weapons for ballistics analysis to determine the shooter responsible for David Nduati’s death.
Homicide detectives have been onsite collecting evidence, and Gatundu South MP Gabriel Kagombe will be questioned upon his hospital release for injuries sustained during the confrontation.
The altercation stemmed from a dispute between supporters of MP Ng’ang’a and Kamenu ward MCA Peter Mburu over the construction of Kiganjo Market. Ng’ang’a and her supporters, including MPs Kimani Ichung’wah and Kururia, attempted to launch the project but were met with resistance from Mburu’s supporters already erecting stalls.
Violence erupted when Ng’ang’a’s group tried to install a signpost indicating government involvement, leading to stone-throwing and teargas. MP Kagombe allegedly fired his gun during the chaos, resulting in Nduati’s death and injuries to others, including Assistant County Commissioner Philomena Nzioki.
The investigation continues, with a 9mm spent cartridge recovered from the scene.
