A motion seeking the impeachment of Kitui County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Finance, Economic Planning, and Revenue Management, Mr. Peter Mwikya Kilonzo, was withdrawn on Tuesday after it failed to gain the necessary support during the morning sitting of the County Assembly.
The motion, which was based on the report from a special committee investigating the allegations against Mr. Kilonzo, was moved by Hon. Jeremiah Mutua Musee (Nguni), the chairperson of the committee.
However, it was not seconded by any member, leading to its automatic withdrawal under Standing Order No. 54(1). This provision dictates that any motion not seconded is deemed withdrawn and cannot be brought up again in the same session.
The failure to proceed with the motion effectively halts the impeachment process against Mr. Kilonzo for the time being.
