Divine Nshuti Muheto, crowned Miss Rwanda in 2022, was recently detained for violating the country’s stringent road safety regulations.
The 21-year-old, a notable figure in the fashion industry, was arrested on Tuesday, October 29, for driving under the influence and without a valid license.
Officials reported that she caused damage to property before leaving the scene. They noted, “This is not her first involvement in such incidents.”
Divine is set to appear in court on Thursday, October 31, to address the charges against her.
Her rise to fame in Rwanda’s beauty pageant circuit began with her Miss Rwanda victory, which garnered her significant national attention and a global audience captivated by her beauty.
Rwanda has strict traffic laws and has recently enforced severe penalties for violations like speeding and drunk driving. According to Rwandan law, drivers caught driving under the influence face hefty fines, immediate license suspension, and potential imprisonment.
