Uganda: Arsenal Fan Stabs Manchester United Supporter in Kabale

A football match in Kabale, Uganda, ended in tragedy when an Arsenal fan stabbed a Manchester United supporter after an argument over the game between Arsenal and Liverpool.

The victim, 36-year-old Benjamin Ndyamuhaki Okello, was attacked with a stick after celebrating Liverpool’s equalizer in the 81st minute.

Witnesses reported that Okello’s excitement provoked Onan, the Arsenal fan, leading to a heated exchange. The conflict escalated when Okello threw popcorn at Onan, resulting in a physical confrontation.

Following the match, Onan allegedly struck Okello with a stick, causing serious injuries. He then fled the scene.

Edmond Tumwesigye, Chairperson of Kaharo Sub County LCIII, confirmed that Onan is a middle-aged Arsenal supporter. He received reports about the incident on Monday morning, stating that Okello was taken to Bukinda Health Centre and later referred to Rugarama, where he sadly passed away.

District Police Commander Joseph Bakaleke noted that the suspect remains at large and urged the victim’s family to stay calm as the investigation proceeds.

On Wednesday, October 30, Ndyamuhaki was laid to rest in Kabungo Cell, Katenga Parish, in Western Uganda. Friends and family came together in grief to say their final goodbyes to him, the fifth of eleven siblings.
