A worship service at the Right of Hope Revelation Church in Ruanyaga village,turned tragic on Sunday when 56-year-old congregant Martin Gitahi Thuku collapsed and passed away on the church premises.
Thuku, who had been attending the service, fell ill while returning from the church’s restroom, approximately 30 meters from the building. Efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.
Reverend Elijah Kimani and Pastor Francis Mwangi, who were present during the incident, reported the situation to Kaharate Police Post.
Officers from Muthithi Police Station, including the Officer Commanding Station (OCS), along with detectives from the Kigumo Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), swiftly arrived at the scene to investigate.
Preliminary investigations indicated that Thuku had no known medical conditions, and an initial examination of his body revealed no signs of injury. His body was transported to Murang’a Level Five Hospital mortuary for an autopsy to establish the cause of death.
The incident is under ongoing investigation by detectives from Kigumo.
