Machakos Police Public Relations Praised by Assistant IG

Assistant Inspector General of Police Ibrahim Jilo Guyo commended Machakos county for its exemplary police-public relations, urging other counties to emulate their approach.

Speaking at the Athi River subcounty administration police New Year party in Machakos County, Guyo highlighted the commendable relationship between police officers and the public, particularly in Athi River subcounty. He emphasized the importance of this rapport and suggested it as a model for other regions.

Guyo, alongside senior officers from various police units, local leaders, investors, administrators, and community members, celebrated the occasion, noting the positive impact of the strong police-public partnership on crime suppression within Machakos County and its environs.

He praised the collaborative efforts of Machakos County CIPU commander Dennis Odero and Athi River subcounty counterpart Mohamed Nur in organizing the event and emphasized the significance of such gatherings in fostering community engagement and intelligence-sharing.

In line with the Administration Police Service’s motto, “Askari ya Mashinani, Askari ya Mwananchi” (The People’s Policeman), Guyo reaffirmed the commitment of the police service to serve the public diligently and professionally, adhering to the Constitution of Kenya 2010.

Guyo also addressed the importance of addressing mental health issues among police officers and highlighted ongoing efforts, including psychosocial support programs and comprehensive medical coverage provided by the government.

He expressed gratitude for the government’s initiatives aimed at improving police officers’ welfare, including proposed reforms covering various aspects such as remuneration, housing, medical services, training, promotions, and transfers.

Guyo urged the public to continue cooperating with law enforcement agencies, assuring them of confidentiality and emphasizing the importance of community involvement in maintaining public safety.
