Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has initiated a pioneering program, ‘Maziwa ya Mama,’ providing free milk to all public Early Childhood Education Centers (ECDE) in Machakos County.
Launched at Kyemutheke Primary School, the program aims to increase enrollment, enhance child nutrition, and improve overall health and well-being. Governor Ndeti highlighted the milestone, emphasizing the positive impact on children’s learning experiences.
The program, with the slogan ‘Feeding the Future,’ is expected to benefit dairy farmers by increasing milk demand. Ndeti emphasized the alignment of the initiative with her development agenda, “Chakula Mezani, Pesa Mfukoni,” focusing on food security and economic empowerment.

The children will receive milk twice a week, contributing to their nutritional needs. Senator Agnes Kavindu drew parallels with the impactful ‘Maziwa Ya Nyayo’ program, which supported children from disadvantaged backgrounds in staying in school.
