The roadblocks have affected both private cars and public transport vehicles, leaving many commuters stranded.
The affected roads and locations include:
- Mombasa Road (Inbound) near Sameer Business Park
- Lang’ata Road (Inbound) near 1824 Club, Madaraka
- Kiambu Road (Outbound) near CID Headquarters
- Madaraka Roundabout towards Nyayo Stadium
- Donholm area police checkpoint
- Roysambu Roundabout
Anti-riot police braved the morning cold to man these roadblocks, conducting security checks along key entry routes to the Nairobi Central Business District ahead of the Saba Saba demonstrations.
This is despite government assurances that Monday, July 7, would be a normal working day.
The heightened security is aimed at preventing protestors from sneaking into the city disguised as regular commuters.
