Speaking at a consultative meeting with Samburu County leaders at his Karen home, Kindiki assured that the government would intensify its ongoing efforts to support security forces in ensuring lasting peace in the impacted regions.

Reflecting on his time as Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration, Kindiki highlighted the progress made in dismantling criminal networks.

“I’m proud that during my tenure as CS for Interior, we managed to break up the livestock rustling and banditry networks that had been terrorizing and economically crippling our people,” he remarked.

While acknowledging that total elimination is still a work in progress, Kindiki expressed confidence in the achievements made so far. He credited President William Ruto’s support for the progress in restoring peace in the region.

To maintain the push against criminal groups, Kindiki emphasized the ongoing government support for the Interior Ministry, now led by CS Kipchumba Murkomen.

“We launched a security equipment modernization program worth 12 billion. Additional resources will be allocated to equip our officers, ensuring they are fully prepared to handle the banditry problem,” he assured.

Kindiki also stressed the importance of continued vigilance and urged leaders to focus on governance rather than engaging in endless political campaigns.

“Between elections, we have work to do,” he said. “Countries that have succeeded in development understand that politics cannot be the focus forever.”

Beyond security, Kindiki outlined the government’s broader development plans, particularly in Northern Kenya, where infrastructure and essential services have been lacking.

“We aim to enhance connectivity in Northern Kenya, an area that has long been underserved. Fortunately, we now have the funds to connect more homes to electricity,” he noted.

The Deputy President also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to implementing major projects outlined in the Kenya Kwanza manifesto, including roads, water, electricity, markets, schools, and hospitals.

“We must work diligently over the next two years to ensure that all the issues in the 47 county charters, as outlined in the Kenya Kwanza manifesto, are delivered,” he stated. “Successfully implementing these development programs will make it easier for us to return to the electorate and present our achievements using a performance scorecard.”
