Other appointments announced include Suba MP Caroli Omondi as Secretary General and former Nairobi Town Clerk Philip Kisia as Executive Director.
The coalition said the leadership changes were necessitated by shifting political dynamics and are intended to strengthen internal coordination and operational effectiveness.
“These adjustments are part of a deliberate strategy to reposition and reinvigorate the coalition,” Azimio said in a statement, adding that the aim is to enhance cohesion, effectiveness, and unity as it advances its national agenda.
The meeting chaired by President Kenyatta brought together senior leaders to assess the coalition’s organisational structure, the prevailing political landscape, and its long-term strategic direction.

Kalonzo’s elevation is seen as a move to give Azimio a clear political focal point while tapping into his extensive experience in national politics and coalition-building.
The leadership overhaul comes as the coalition seeks to solidify its support base, remain influential in national conversations, and project itself as a united and credible political force.
