Emmanuel Maleve, a journalist known for his investigative reports on public fund mismanagement, has been granted Ksh 50,000 cash bail following his overnight stay in custody at Muthaiga Police Station.
His lawyer, Noel Muasya, stated that the police had not brought formal charges against Maleve and appeared to be engaged in a “game of hide and seek,” as they failed to present a charge sheet in court throughout the morning.
Maleve was detained yesterday at Muli Mall in Kitui, allegedly forced into a vehicle and transported to Nairobi under unclear circumstances. His arrest followed the publication of articles accusing Kitui South MP Dr. Rachel Nyamai of misusing National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) allocations.
