Her death comes just a week after the family laid to rest their son, the late Moses Muthama Nduya, at Muthama’s home in Tala, Kangundo Sub-county.

Nzisa was the beloved daughter of the late George Zakayo Mwongela and Mary Alice Nthoki Mwongela, and a devoted grandmother to Ayden Nduya, Sophie-Anne Mbesa, Melissa Nzisa, Olivia-Rose Kathule, Zachary Nduya, Ella Atieno, and Etta Nzisa.

She was also a cherished sister to Connie Mbithe Muia, Mary Mudachi, Leila Monica Ndunge Jaffer, Ngala Mwendwa Mwongela, and the late Jane Mukulu and Patrick Mutua Mwongela.

Family and friends held initial gatherings on February 20, with further meetings set for February 23 and 24 at her Woodley residence.

Nzisa had previously attracted public attention in 2021 after alleging that one of her daughters was paid to speak against Machakos Senator Agnes Kavindu, Muthama’s other ex-wife. She had also been involved in a long-running property dispute with Muthama, which began in 1992 and included claims to various assets such as real estate, company shares, a gemstone business, and vehicles.

In 1992, the couple signed a memorandum of settlement resolving their disputes, including withdrawal of divorce claims and relinquishing property rights. Nzisa later sought to revisit the settlement in 2014, arguing it did not account for her children’s minority status at the time of certain transfers.

However, in 2015, the High Court upheld the original settlement in favor of Muthama, ruling that the matter had been resolved by mutual agreement and could not be reopened.

Joyce Nzisa Mwongela will be remembered by her extended family, friends, and community as a devoted mother, grandmother, and sister.
