Gachagua stated that they have the necessary numbers to not only win the seat but also capture 15 additional parliamentary positions in the city to safeguard their interests.
He is confident that by forming an alliance with the Kamba community, they can secure the positions. “We must take control of Nairobi. I plan to discuss with Kalonzo (Wiper leader) to ensure our victory. This is crucial for our people, especially since we are business-focused,” he said.
He believes that through unity, they can win seats in areas like Mathare, Embakasi East, Makadara, and even Kibra, which are currently held by ODM leaders. “If we unite, we can win 15 out of 17 constituencies through a GEMA alliance and also secure many MCA positions for the benefit of our people,” he added.
He also emphasized the importance of improving voter turnout, noting that out of the 2.4 million registered voters in Nairobi, only 1.4 million participated in the previous election. Speaking during a radio interview on Wednesday, Gachagua assured that the Mt Kenya region’s voter turnout would reach 99 percent this time.
He defended his focus on uniting the Mt Kenya community first before reaching out to others. “You cannot ask another family to unite when your own is divided. I cannot expect a leader from a different region to unite behind a candidate when I haven’t united my own people,” he explained.
As he prepares to launch his party, Gachagua announced that his deputy party leader would be a member of Gen Z.
“My party will involve them (Gen Z) significantly, with the deputy party leader being from their generation. I’m the party leader, and my deputy will be from Gen Z to ensure their inclusion. We want to show them they are not just the leaders of tomorrow, but today,” he said. “They bring knowledge and creativity, while I bring experience and exposure. Together, we can form a strong team.”
