A distinguished delegation was constituted to oversee the repatriation of former Prime Minister Raila Amollo Odinga’s body following his death in India on October 15, 2025, at the age of 80, while undergoing medical treatment.
The delegation was led by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, reflecting the national importance of the mission. Accompanying him was Mama Ida Odinga, who represented the Odinga family, symbolizing both personal grief and family presence.

The government was prominently represented by Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen and Mining Cabinet Secretary Hassan Joho, underscoring the state’s direct involvement in the solemn exercise.
National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah and Minority Leader Junet Mohamed also joined the team, a rare show of bipartisan unity in honour of the late opposition leader.
Family representative Jaoko Oburu Odinga was part of the delegation, ensuring that Raila’s final journey home was conducted with dignity, compassion, and respect — blending official protocol with personal devotion.
