Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka delivered a heartfelt tribute to the late Raila Amollo Odinga during his keynote address at the Tenth Anniversary of the London Political Summit and Awards Ceremony, held at the House of Commons.

The moving address came just hours after news broke of Raila’s passing in India, where he had been receiving treatment.

In the speech, shared on his official X account on the night of Wednesday, October 15, 2025, Kalonzo referred to Raila as “our champion of the Second Political Liberation” and “a dear brother,” before leading attendees in a moment of silence to honour the fallen statesman.

“It is a privilege to stand before you in this historic chamber, where the ideals of democracy and representative government have shaped nations. However, as you are all aware, our champion of the Second Political Liberation, Kenya’s Second Prime Minister, and my dear brother, Rt. Hon. Raila Amollo Odinga, passed away earlier today in India,” Kalonzo said.

He went on to describe Raila as a freedom fighter whose body “bore the scars of torture and years of detention,” yet who remained steadfast in his pursuit of justice and democracy.

“Despite enduring immense pain and persecution, Prime Minister Odinga never wavered in his commitment to Kenya’s self-determination — this time through a people-centred constitutional order that devolved power from an imperial presidency,” Kalonzo stated.

He added that Raila’s tireless efforts culminated in the promulgation of Kenya’s 2010 Constitution, a transformative milestone for which the nation owed him profound gratitude.
